Blue Township is a civil township in Pottawatomie County, Kansas. While many describe the area that is primarily single-family housing just East of Manhattan, KS, Blue Township is a much larger area that extends from the Kansas River to past the Tuttle Creek Dam.

Blue Township owns and operates the Green Valley Community Center at 3770 Green Valley Rd, Manhattan, KS 66502, and the Hays Cemetery.

Manhattan, Kansas is a college community, home to Kansas State University, complemented by nearby Fort Riley, and tucked into the gorgeous Flint Hills region.  Manhattan is the county seat of Riley County, and with a population of more than 50,000 serves as a regional hub for shopping, health care, education, entertainment, and communication. To the west sits Fort Riley, home of the legendary 1st Infantry Division, the “Big Red One.”

​The Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 school district serves Blue Township as well as Flint Hills Christian School.

East Manhattan Gateway Plan

The East Manhattan Gateway Plan is a corridor and area plan along the US Highway-24 corridor from the Manhattan Town Center Mall entrance to Hopkins Creek Road. The study area also includes the "McCall Triangle" and undeveloped greenfields surrounding existing residential development in the Green Valley area (see map below). The project was initiated in early 2023 and is expected to conclude with the adoption of a plan in summer of 2025. The plan will be developed by Stantec, the city's consultant for the project, which will address many planning-related topics including future development, transportation, public infrastructure (sewer, water, and stormwater), floodplain, parks and open spaces, market analysis, and emergency services.
